Kıskanmak: When Jealousy Becomes a Family War

Series Info: Kıskanmak is a 2025 Turkish drama series, adapted from the classic novel by Nahid Sırrı Örik. Written by Yılmaz Şahin and directed by Nadim Güç, it is produced by Ay Yapım and premiered on NOW TV on September 16, 2025.

Plot

Seniha Paşazade has grown up in the shadow of neglect, raised in a wealthy but emotionally distant family. Her mother, Mediha, never gives her the love or acceptance that she gives her brother, Halit. Halit, in contrast, is favored, well-educated, successful, and seen by all as the pride of the Paşazade household.

Haunted by feelings of worthlessness and constantly compared unfavorably to Halit, Seniha’s jealousy and resentment grow deeper. When Halit’s young and beautiful fiancée Mükerrem comes into the picture, Seniha’s emotions reach a boiling point. Meanwhile, Nüzhet enters their lives, a talented and alluring musician with his own causes for discontent, and this complicated relationship drags everyone into a tangled web of passion, betrayal, and latent family wounds.

Seniha’s journey is not just about jealousy; it’s about trying to reclaim a life she believes was stolen from her, about confronting her past, and about the cost that comes with confronting privilege, love, and family loyalty.

Main Characters

  • Seniha Paşazade – played by Özgü Namal, Seniha is the central character whose inner turmoil, jealousy, and longing for recognition drive much of the story.
  • Halit Paşazade – played by Mehmet Günsür, the successful older brother, constantly praised, supported, and contrasted with Seniha. His life and choices also bring conflict and consequences to the family.
  • Nüzhet Erden – played by Selahattin Pasalı, a charismatic musician whose involvement complicates the emotional dynamics of the central characters.
  • Mükerrem Şen – played by Hafsanur Sancaktutan, Halit’s fiancée, whose presence sparks deep jealousy and conflict within the family.

Themes

  • Jealousy and Injustice: The core of the story is how neglected love and unfair treatment within a family can breed jealousy, anger, and long-buried pain.
  • Identity and Belonging: Seniha’s struggle is also about whether acceptance comes from achievements, love, or simply being seen.
  • Power and Privilege: The series looks at how family privilege, societal expectations, and comparisons shape relationships and self‐worth.
  • Love, Betrayal, and Redemption: Romance isn’t simple here—instead it’s entangled with betrayal, secrets, and emotional cost.
