Muhteşem Yüzyıl: Kösem is a Turkish television series that serves as a sequel to the 2011 period drama Muhteşem Yüzyıl. The show, written by Yılmaz Şahin, tells the story of Mahpeyker Kösem Sultan, a former slave girl who rose to become the most powerful woman in Ottoman history. After being captured and sent to Sultan Ahmed I’s harem, Kösem Sultan became an important political figure in the Ottoman Empire. The show features three actresses, Nurgül Yeşilçay, Beren Saat, and Anastasia Tsilimpiou, who each play Kösem Sultan at different stages of her life. In addition, actors Ekin Koç, Boran Kuzum, Taner Ölmez, Metin Akdülger, and Tugay Mercan portray different sultans of the Ottoman dynasty. The cast also includes prominent actresses such as Hülya Avşar, Tülin Özen, Leyla Feray, Farah Zeynep Abdullah, Aslıhan Gürbüz, and Hande Doğandemir, who play various sultanas throughout the series.
